Frith comes from a musically rich and diverse area which has produced fellow Port Arthurian Janis Joplin and current country superstars and fellow Southeast Texas natives Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Byrd. Robert has shared the stage with both Walker and Byrd in several acoustic shows in the past, and recently has performed with artists including Vince Gill, The Doobie Brothers, Michael Martin Murphy (in his band as the drummer) Jerry Jeff Walker, Christopher Cross, Ian Moore, Storyville, Blessid Union of Souls, Percy Sledge, Reckless Kelly, Terri Hendrix, Wayne Toups and Tab Benoit to name a few. His regional fan base is both large in number and almost cult-like in terms of their constantly enthusiastic support of his music. Recent live radio and television performances in Houston and Beaumont and at established music strongholds in Houston, Beaumont, and Austin have further solidified his status as a remarkable live performer.

In addition to building an incredibly strong fan base through constant performing in the Texas Gulf Coast, Robert has released four full-length albums whose strong sales have shown that his fans will buy his music and are hungry for more. His first album, “That Long Black Ribbon,” featured a regional hit single, “No Need,” a guitar-oriented blues-rock song along the lines of Vaughan and Tab Benoit that received substantial radio airplay. Subsequent singles from the album, including the heartfelt Van Morrison-like “I Want to Feel” and the soulful “Would You Rather,” saw strong airplay in the area as well. Robert’s second effort, “Pon*tune,” boasted even more outstanding original material, ranging from the hard-driving blues-rock of “Ted Told Fred” and “Filth,” the tender ballads “Forever Now” and “When April Sees Me” and the Beatlesque “No No No,” down to the storytelling character sketch of “Saving Grace” and the starkly arranged James Taylor-like acoustic number, “That Don’t Sit With Me. His third release, “Boogaloo”, which MyTexasMusic calls “an island of well-penned tracks”, and Amazon.com praises as “[a]n amazing 18-track effort that proves that creativity is not dead” still receives substantial airplay.

On his 4th CD, Robert teamed up with songwriting partners Don Rollins (”Its 5 0′clock Somewhere”-Alan Jackson/Jimmy Buffet), Jason Greene (”Rumor Has It”-Clay Walker), and Douglas Greer (2007 Euro-Americana Charts #1 Album) to make what is his best work to date. In the review of the new CD, MyTexasMusic says Frith is “Destined to be remembered as one of the greats in Texas music. Frith is masterful, crossing genre lines as smoothly as a highway lane change”. Perhaps MyTexasMusic sums up Robert best when it says, “Frith ranks up there with the best song deliverers in the business.” He’s a throw back to the good old days when the music was real and so were the people who made it.
