Frith’s songwriting has reached beyond the stage as well. Country music star Mark Chesnutt recorded “Middleman,” a song Frith co-wrote for the film Noble Things, which appears on both the movie’s soundtrack and Chesnutt’s Greatest Hits II album.
A mainstay of the Texas music scene, Robert Frith has built a reputation for strong drawing power and wide market appeal. He has headlined major music events along the Texas Gulf Coast, and his diverse catalog has earned radio airplay across Pop, Rock, Classic Rock, and Country formats throughout the United States and in several European countries.
Raised in Port Arthur, Texas—a region rich in musical history—Frith shares roots with artists such as Janis Joplin, Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt, and Tracy Byrd, and has shared the stage with many of them over the years. His performance credits also include appearances with Vince Gill, The Doobie Brothers, Michael Martin Murphey, Christopher Cross, Percy Sledge, Ian Moore, Storyville, Wayne Toups, and Tab Benoit, among others.
His debut album, That Long Black Ribbon, produced the regional hit “No Need,” along with fan favorites “I Want to Feel” and “Would You Rather.” His second release, Pontune, expanded his sound with blues-rock, heartfelt ballads, and acoustic storytelling, earning continued airplay.
His third album, Boogaloo, was praised by MyTexasMusic as “an island of well-penned tracks,” while Amazon called it “an amazing 18-track effort that proves creativity is not dead.”
For his fourth release, Robert Frith, he collaborated with acclaimed songwriting partners Don Rollins, Jason Greene, and Douglas Greer to create what many consider his strongest work to date. MyTexasMusic described Frith as “destined to be remembered as one of the greats in Texas music,” noting his ability to cross genres with ease and deliver songs with authenticity and soul.
At his core, Robert Frith is a throwback to a time when music was honest, songwriting mattered, and the connection between artist and audience was real.
